The word Art has become toxic and political in America. …. And it needs to be rebranded. What if we switched out the word Art and replaced it with “ Project “ ?
Would all the people afraid to be called an Artist be more comfortable being called a “ Project Manager “ ?
Would that make a difference in the realm of public education ?
What if we pushed project education instead of arts education ? Would that fool the public or not ?
I often feel like a project manager more than an artist and am grateful public education systems would not have me because they would not like the material I feel needs introduced to minds. What you write can be related to the summary of 2 books I have yet to read by Mario Perniola: The Sex Appeal of the Inorganic; Art & It's Shadow.
I do not know how useful public education can be...even in it's language we need arts education because it contains the ability to receive criticism, improve for the sake of the craft, and the ability to face failure and continue all while there may or may not be monetary reward. This can develop people's agency and instead of forming consensus bias, more creative debate and cooperation.
Maybe we don't need to be fooled more but helped to distinguish falsehood from fact.
aww, don't trust your instincts?

I have not yet read Phaedrus.

If you haven't, you must read Phaedrus. You're tracking interesting points in the dialog.

There is much food for thought here, Mari - I will need time to process.
