Iniquity
to be unfair
to perform vice
to embody wickedness
FROM A STIRRING
While I hear many advise the life I lead
into their greening stares I often wonder
what an inability to see beyond pleasantries
or outside passing judgments would do
in the way of unconfining me
from reaching to feign a connection
in the moment I still shrink
into a memory of knowing
I’ll doubtfully ever be called upon to meet again
maybe in this moment of minuscule desire
to remain unknown and not contained
there were a few times last week
so called friends promised never to forget
and yet they did while I tried to believe some truth
I find instead only a few convincing dispositions
to make sense of what is found in such social feats displays of kicking, screaming, or whistling
since time itself doesn’t care for witty remarks
tend broken hearts, glue torn photographs back together you can bet your own teeth the surest fallacies found
are in each of our memories
particular of those made of a life lived in disguise
prone to projecting escapist temperaments
for carefully examining self judgment with a thorough eye implies implementation never-ending in daily life
than relying on the memory summoned by a stranger pretending to be a soul mate from another life—
since talk of being here now might be new age fluff
the lack of judgment tarnishes as cotton candy does
so protect my skin as if they are the bones
I get to carry myself through in.
